ONE FAITH

There is “One FAITH”. This is continuing the 7 “ones” in Ephesians 4:1-5. This FAITH, this system of doctrine, was “once and for all time delivered to the saints” (believers) in the first century of Christianity (Jude 3). You and I are to believe it, live by it and teach it until the end of time. God does not speak audibly to us today, because He said all He wanted us to know. Neither does He allow additions to His perfect word, the faith, by doctrines of councils of men. Paul did predict some church leaders would ”depart from the faith” and would turn aside to fables and doctrines of men and of devils, distorting the truth (Acts 20:29-31). He charged Timothy to “preach the word … correct, rebuke … for the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will … turn aside to myths” (1 Tim 4:2-4). The man of God is “thoroughly equipped for every good work” by the holy Scriptures (1 Tim 3:16-17). The “seed” is the word of God (Luke 8:11). This seed of the gospel produced Christians only in the first century.
