NOT ON BREAD ALONE

Scan0003Personal daily Bible reading and prayer is not just a “nice” thing to do; it is the heartbeat of the Christian’s life. Jesus said, “Man does not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matt. 4:4). One of the most important resolutions you could make this new year is to read God’s word every day. It is as important as the bread you eat and the air you breathe. You consist of body, soul and spirit. The healthy person will regularly nourish all three. This will give spiritual cleansing (Psa. 119:9), counsel (2 Tim 4: 16) and will help resolve conflicts in daily life (Eph 6:17-18). God wants this appointment with you every day. It will not cost. it pays! (Psa 42:1 -2; 90:4; Jn 4:23-24).
Choose a special time and place (Mk 1 :35; Ps 5:3; 59:16). Have a Bible that is easy to read. Don’t hurry; meditate and thank God, asking Him for help and strength for yourself, your family, tor His church.
