DECORATION OR DIRECTIONS

decorationordirectionsI rebind and repair old Bibles to help pay for these 250 words each Sunday (cost $420), now in week #350 in our 7th year. Thanks to all who read, and thanks to our blessed Lord for giving us this opportunity to teach His Word to this great audience of eternal souls. Yes, thank you God!

This week I have repaired two Bibles that date in the 1950’s. One is a big Family Bible. The cover is damaged from age, but the pages are in like new condition. The other is held together with duct tape with worn marked pages, underlined and soiled by constant handling. The contrast is truly remarkable. Their purpose in the homes of their owners has been entirely different. Only one has been for study, whereas the other seemingly was for decoration, not for constant learning and teaching about directions for living the Christian life and preparing souls for their eternal heavenly home.

What is the purpose of your Bible? It is to study (2 Tim 2:15) about God and His Son Jesus Christ (John 1:1;3:16)? Is it to learn about how to become a Christian and be “born again” into the family of God (Jn 3:3-5; Acts 2:38-42; 8:26-39)? Is it to learn how to live daily for Jesus (I Cor 15:58) and how to teach our children and others (Mt 28:18-20)? Is it to prepare yourself for the Judgment Day and your eternal home in heaven after this life (Jn 5:28-29)?

What would be concluded by looking at the condition of YOUR Bible?
